Going Over the Edge: Raising Funds for Our Clubhouse and Cancer Support

Tony Ryan August 05, 2019

This blog is a bit of a change of pace from our usual content. I want to tell you about something that’s very important to me personally and to Voci as a team.

Everyone has some connection to cancer. According to the American Cancer Society, about one-third of all people in the US will develop cancer during their lifetimes. Over one and a half million new cancer cases are diagnosed each year.

Voci has decided to take action. We are helping to support Our Clubhouse, a local organization — it’s about three blocks away from our head office in Pittsburgh — whose mission is to offer free social, emotional and wellness support to those in our region touched by cancer.

Anyone who has been diagnosed with cancer, including their families and friends, is welcome. Since their opening in June 2006, Our Clubhouse has welcomed more than 2,000 members.

The Voci Technologies team is raising funds through participating in the Our Clubhouse “Over the Edge” event. The idea is simple: if we hit our fundraising goal, we get to send someone to rappel down the 26-story Oliver Building in Downtown Pittsburgh. And our CEO, Mike Coney, has volunteered to be the one rappelling down. All proceeds that we raise will go directly to Our Clubhouse.

So help us make a difference in the life of someone impacted by cancer. Your support through this event helps provide vital services to people with a cancer diagnosis, as well as their friends and family.
